Amory family carte de visite album, 1860-1864.

One album containing 174 cartes de visite portraits of various members of the Amory, Appleton, Copley, Greene, and Lawrence families, taken between 1860-1864. Those depicted in the album include Arthur Amory, Augustine Heard Amory, Frederic Amory, Harcourt Amory, James Appleton Amory, and James Sullivan Amory, among many others. Photographers include George Kendall Warren of Cambridgeport, Mass. and James Wallace Black, Antoine Sonrel, John Adams Whipple, and Black & Batchelder, all of Boston, Mass. The album is embossed in gold with the initials "M. G.A.," and an inscription in an unknown hand in the front of the album reads, "Mary Amory. From her Affectionate Mother Oct 13th 1862." Most of the photographs are identified, and all are black and white.

George K. Warren (1834-1884) was an American photographer active in Massachusetts in the second half of the 19th century. He was based in Lowell, Massachusetts from 1850 to 1870 and moved to Boston in 1870, where he worked until his death in 1884.
